Our moods are changing all the time, and it's important to keep in touch with your emotions. But why bother trying to analyze how you're feeling yourself, when a cute cartoon animal can do it for you?
MoodSense is home to a range of creatures known as 'podlingz'. These perceptive little characters are able to sense the inner ripples of your being and give you a reading of how you're feeling. They can obtain all of this just by you putting your finger on the screen of your iPhone.
When you tap on the screen a glowing circle will appear for as long as your finger is held down. One of the characters in MoodSense then appears on screen, telling you how you're feeling. Click on the circle icon underneath a character and they will give you instructions you need to carry out in order for the 'magic' to work, such as barking like a dog, quacking, touching your nose three times, or repeating strange incantations. Another animal will then appear to give you a different mood reading. There are four podlingz available in this Lite version of MoodSense (snake, rabbit, dog, and cow), but you'll get a further eight if you upgrade to the full version.
It's all very bizarre, and you quickly realize that MoodSense is nothing more than a silly game for kids with no scientific basis for reading minds. For instance, a brown dog just told me I was feeling "fairly determined and polite", whereas I'm actually pretty tired and irritable at the moment.
The joke is fun for a few minutes but ultimately, MoodSense is useless and not the kind of app you'll keep on your device for very long.
